Lady of Avalon is an 18" stump doll made to show of a historical costume. This costume that she is wearing is based upon medieval costume which is particularly associated to Glastonbury where I have my workshop and is based a lot of the time. Glastonbury is a very ancient settlement and has become an iconic location since the 1960's/70's which draws people worldwide for the alternative therapies and practices now based here.
The costume for Lady of Avalon is made from silk dupion which is machine embroidered, as well as silk chiffon front panel which is hand dyed and embroidered. Her hair is tibetan lambskin with a beaded wire head dress. Th bodice is a lovely braid.
